If the energy behind Barack stays focused and dedicates themselves to pressuring him to act according to the will of the people who elected him, then we will be a powerful network throughout the country.

Of course this is what it comes down to! Could real change happen any other way? Now we must step up, take responsibility and be real citizens for a change.

I can't handle that. I have given up a lot of meat over the last couple of years because of what goes on in the slaughter houses. Its such a horrible, horrible thing we perpetrate on these creatures. Its far and away the most depressing torture I have ever seen.

As to communities of color, you could try liliana[-at-]latinainitiative.org, they are one of the good folks over at the Alliance Center and have been very active getting out into the community lately.

El Paso County had the chance to vote for 1A, which was a sales tax measure. Unsurprisingly, they voted it down.

But Daniel Cole, campaign manager for Citizens for Cost Effective Government, the group that pushed for 1A's defeat, blamed the health department itself, saying it should have done more to earn voters' trust.

I'm sure when the next West Nile or E coli outbreak occurs, residents will be overjoyed that their government is "cost effective".
