(thanks again for the seat Debbie! - promoted by johne)
As a delegate to the National Convention, it has been a very busy time. This morning began with our Colorado delegate breakfast. I couldn't stay very long since I had to rush off to a special event - in my car (ugh). Michelle Obama's Womens Issues Town Hall: Sen. Obama's campaign called me last night to invite me to a round table on women's issues with a focus on health care. It was a very movng morning with stories from working women that have families and struggle to make ends meet and live in fear that they will have a serious medical emergency in their family. More on the flip. Flip it good. |

The forum was hosted by Michelle Obama. It was an intimate setting at the Colfax Events Center. The stage was set with a few chairs in a U shape facing each other. Governor Seblius (KS), Granholm (MI), Napolitano (AZ), Minner (DE) spoke of their experiences as women that faced tragedy and did what they had to do to support their families with or without a husband. Then a special guest was introduced by Michelle Obama - Joe Biden. It didn't feel out of place to have him be the only person of the male persuasion in the room. He fit in and took the opportunity to honor the strong women in his life that helped lead him through hard times. But the real stars were the four women that shared thier stories. Let me just say loud and clear -We Must Elect Barack Obama and increase our Democratic Majorities in Congress! Women have the hardest time of all in our country today. Rushing to run a couple of errands and then back to the hotel. I received a phone call that Jared Polis would be on stage at 4pm. So we rushed to get to the Pepsi center in time. Chris Van Hollen (DCCC Chair) brought on stage several candidates including Jared. I was so proud to see our newest' CD2 nominee on stage. Go Jared! Dennis Kucinich tore the house down with the most impassioned speech I have every heard from him. I went off floor to do an interview with Adam Burke from Paonia. I will let you know if/when the interview will air. He included other S2 bloggers in his story about our new media, politics and the convention. Federico Pena was also on stage tonight. The Colorado delegation went crazy. He spoke about his "Imagine A Great City" and related that to imagining new energy. Obama brings the change we need. Jobs for America. We can then export jobs around the world. (Van Jones) ( Apollo.) Just as John Kennedy promised/challenged the US to do with Apollo, Obama challenges us now. To be continued. |
